As you can see they do not sell slices but the whole pie. After much discussion we settled on the Original. The pizza was the standard Neapolitan made on a flat base of leavened dough that was topped with tomatoes, cheese and sauce. When you pick it up you get the fold so it flops a bit and once you take a bite, you taste the tomato sauce that's a little sweet, a little tangy and cheesy. The crust was char-bubbly yet thin but had a sturdy bottom. I like thin crust. Overall, it was good and they serve more than just pizza.
Now for a bit of Patsy's history. It is my understanding that the location we visit is no longer owned by the family. The original Patsy's location is: 236 W. 56th Street - New York, NY / 212-247-3491
Patsy's has been a traditional, family-owned and operated their Italian restaurant that opened it's first restaurant in midtown Manhattan. It was founded by Pasquael "Patsy" Scognamillo in 1944.
Patsy's is well known as the restaurant that Frank Sintra made famous. As you can see, many famous people and politicians have journey to this site such as Al Pacino, George Clooney, Ben Stiller, Congressman Charles Rangel, NY Comptroller Scott Springer, Heavy D, Sean Puff Daddy Combs, Patty Labelle, Oprah Winfrey, David Letterman, Robert DeNiro, Tom Hanks, Hon Bon Jovi, Liza Minnelli, etc., etc., etc, and the list goes on on and.
Midtown Patsy's is on my to visit list. Care to join me?
