Tuesday, April 18, 2023 @ 7:00 pm   The area this restaurant is located is fun and very lively.  We were told that this is one of the best soul food restaurants in Phoenix.  I do have to say that our waiter Ryan was cheerful, knew the menu, had suggestions, and very friendly.  We ordered the Famous Soul Food Platter (fried chicken) served with 2 sides and cornbread or biscuit, chicken tender and mac and cheese.  They have a sign that says “This ain’t your momma’s chicken”.  I was disappointed as was the rest of my group.  My potato salad had a lot of mayonnaise, not much taste, the chicken was very crusty and hard, again not much taste.  The mac and cheese had something orange in it (I don’t think it was cheese) that we couldn’t decipher but it didn’t taste good.  One of my daughters really didn’t like her food and the manager who was very cordial and helpful tried to get her to try something else.  He mentioned grits and that was ok.  We left most of our food on our plates.  We were so disappointed.
