Following my granddaughter Skye graduation, we ventured to Twisted Sage Cafe for a celebration.  

I absolutely adored the spanish style building.  

I had big old fat breakfast burrito that consisted of 2 scramble eggs, red potatoes, scallions, I asked for american cheese instead of cheddar, and applewood smoked bacon.  Now for my next visit, I'm try it with chorizo and next chicken sausage.  Needless to say, did I finish it all... I gave it a good old college try, but no, like I said big old fat breakfast burrito.  Good big old fat breakfast burrito.

Our server Trevor needs his own tv live show.  He is not only a great server, but an really good entertainer, hilarious.  He has his own way of breaking down the menu with suggestions, which you should listen to him, he was right on point.  One of the best servers I have had the pleasure of meeting.  

As they say on the website So Here's The Story....  Classic Americana with a "Twist".  Go and see for yourself and enjoy the laid back atmosphere with wonderful food.

We smelled the aroma before actually seeing the restaurant, we just followed our noses.  My daughter Teria, grandson Demetric, granddaughter Cherokee and I waited only 30 minutes for a table, surprised because it was crowded.  

I ordered had the smoked wings, french fries with a side of cole slaw.  You could taste the smoked habanero honey, bbq and the sweet cilantro chili.  This is no time for manners and go ahead and lick your fingers.

If you sit outside you will have a great view of the ocean and they have live country music.  The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is lively.  Next time I'm there, I'm ask if they can play t "Tennesse Whiskey".

When you first heard the name "Mess Hall" you kind of think of where the, Army, Navy and  Marines eat.  But once it was made clear that it is a market food hall with different assortments of food cooked by different chefs I was ready.  

My daughter Teria, granddaughters Cherokee & Skye and I went and I thought that it was just a food hall, no it also has a full size bar, outdoor dining area, bbq grill, ping pong table, large park, bean bag toss, fireplace and a park.  I liked it so much that I returned the very next day.

Th first day I had the Chicken Tinga from Taqueria with an hibiscus drink.   This dish consisted of shredded chicken, beans, cabbage, rice, potatoes and chips.  So good.  And I finished it all.

My second time I ordered from Vaka Burger and of course I had the Vaka Burger.  So juicy and tender, even the brioche bun was soft.  Return trip is in order.

The Mess Hall has a little of something for everyone:  Vaka Burger, Anepalco Modern Mexican, The Sandwich Society, Another Kind Cafe, The Little Greek, The Lost Bean, Big Parm, SlapFish and Foul Play.

Stop and visit for a while, you're be back.

My grandson Demetric, granddaughters Skye and Cherokee, my daughter Stacey and I went on a Watson's seeking adventure.  

We were introduced to our waitress Sarah who promptly came over to introduce herself.  I order the vanilla classic malt & the old town classic burger with french fries.

Unfortunately, I had to send mines and Stacey's malt back, it was watery and tasteless and ordered a coke.  The burger & fries were good.  I like the pharmacy sauce, yet I couldn't figure out the ingredients.  Skye had the tater tots and they were very good.

Another day, another time.  See then you then.

Watson's was established in 1899 and is California's original soda fountain. Get to that.  It must be said that this restaurant has been used as a set for Tom Hanks movie "That Thing You Do" and "The Bench Warmers" as well as "The Stepford Children" and "Gumball Rally".

Let's see.  I ordered the Chicken Marsala. Oven roasted chicken breast that is topped with a creamy marsala wine sauce, yes! with angel hair pasta. 

Teria and Stacey, two  of my daughters,ordered the chicken piccata with angel hair pasta.  When I return, immediately that is what I am going to order.   I did not sample everyone else's dish because I was too busy enjoying mines.  Apparently, I'm have to go through the entire menu.

The dinner garlic knots, the dinner garlic knots, the garlic knots, the knots.....  can you say "more please".  The pasta is all homemade! 

Our server, Mario was so gracious and thorough.  As a matter of fact, the entire wait staff, servers and chefs were simply amazing.  

Food was thoroughly enjoyed by all.  Trust me.  The atmosphere is low key and cool.
