Friday, September 20, 2019 @ 7:19 pm.

Well my friend Michelle and I had planned to meet up for dinner several times, but due to both of our schedules we were finally able to plan an actual date, the above date.  Upon setting a date I decided that we should go to The Boil in Greenwich Village.  After an exchange of hugs and laughter off we went.   I had made reservations.  Good thing.

When you are being directed to your seat by the hostess, you hear sounds of various conversations and laughter with the sound of slurping.  Once seated Buka ties a bib with a picture of a Dungeness crab on it around your neck with a brown paper tablecloth.  That's why you can slurp.  And I wanted to keep the bib.

Jenny our waitress was quick, efficient and friendly.  When my friend Michelle was not certain between two dishes, so Jenny in her Boil encyclopedia knowledge was able to assist her in her selection, lobster and crawfish.  And it was good!  The corn was juicy, the lobster and crawfish was tender and fresh and well seasoned.  Like don't care that I'm out in public, like those fingers girl!  There's the slurping again.

The salad was overloaded with cilantro and that's about the only think I tasted.  Couldn't find the mango and what happened to the papaya?  I sent it back  When I ask the waitress about the salad they did not tell me that it was made with green papaya and green mango.  Bit difference from what I expected and it is not mention on the menu.

The crab cake had lumps of fresh crabs, smell the ocean, see you later fellow crabs with a taste of mustard, worcestershire sauce, very lightly breaded and whatever other  ingredients they blended together was a good marriage.  Ever so often a waitstaff comes and empties the basket that you have dump the shells in.

All together we enjoyed the food and the experienced.  Looking forward to a return visit without the salad.

Street corn fritters with parmgiana cheese -$6.00

1 chicken chorizo, 1 baja fish tacos - $2.50 each.   Carne asada - $3.50

Sweet tea - $3.50

Sat down to eat on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at 12:48 pm.  Nice bright summer afternoon.  Warm weather, animated crowd, lots of laughter and clicking of glasses for celebration.  Children wanting more.

First off the presentation of the tacos was severely lacking.  They were all bunched up together like they were running for the hills.
  • The chicken taco was made with a green chicken chorizo sausage with tomatillo avocado salsa.  Interesting yet spicy.  The tempura battered cod fish was lacking pep in its flavor but I liked the chipotle slaw.  The carne asada had a mildly seasoned with a tamari citrus and aguacate salsa (avocado salsa).  It was tender and juicy with lettuce.  I liked the carne asada.  I hearing you asking what is tamari.  Well, tamari is a Japanese sauce that is made of fermented soybeans.  It is usually thicker and has more flavor than soy sauce so you will sometimes find it used as a dipping sauce.
When I ordered the corn fritters I was thinking of hush puppies which are sweet and savory.  But then I remember fritters are made from corn and chopped vegetables cooked in a thick batter.  Usually they are crispy on the outside and the inside is soft with lots of fresh bites of juicy corn.  Well that is not what I got.  I didn't taste the sweet and they were kind of dry and lacked seasonings.  The chipotle sauce is what helped saved them.  It was spicy with a mayo base.

My waitress, Alessandra was very welcoming and very attentive.  Receiving that kind of service enhanced my experience.

I would say go for the pleasant ambience, the view of the inner harbor, the lively crowd of all ages from babies to toddlers and up.  And if you can, sit outside and relax with a drink, soda or water with a few friends or family members.  Will I try it again, I might for the crowd, the atmosphere, the view and try something else.

Dined, ate, feasted, supped, partook, noshed, broke bread, fared on Friday, August 30, 2019 - 6:30 pm with my daughter Teria & granddaughter Skye.

You have a choice in which buffet you want.  I chose the Steak & Seafood Lunch Buffet.

Steak & Seafood Lunch Buffet in San Diego

Take a break from the gaming action and indulge in roasted New York strip steak, authentic Italian, Asian, Mexican and American specialties, plus made-from-scratch soups, fresh rolled sushi, homemade cakes, pies and much more.

The roast turkey was tender, well seasoned.  You could taste the touch of grated nutmeg, cream and butter.  The roasted carrots were tender and tasty.  The cream spinach was easy on the palate and the mashed potatoes had a creamy texture with a buttery flavor. The ribs were slow cooked and not covered in sauce.  You want to taste the meat and the seasonings that the chef or pit master has applied to the ribs.  To me, sauces can sometimes hid the defects in the seasoning.  I do not like ribs that are boiled first because it takes away a lot of the flavor.

The creme brulee custard was so smooth and the hardened caramelized sugar that as layer on top was so easy to crack and you can taste the vanilla.  With the flan you can taste the eggs, sugar and the vanilla, so creamy and so good.  The same with the vanilla ice cream.  You taste the cinnamon and vanilla along with the raisins and apples, peeled, cored and sliced just right with the apple.

Maine Lobster Dinner

Southern California's only endless lobster buffet is also the best! Take the dining experience up a notch with Maine lobster every night of the week along with shrimp cocktail, prime rib, crab legs, authentic world specialties, fresh hot lava cake, crepes, cupcakes and so much more.

We had the most delightful and experienced waiter name Juan.  Juan was very attentive, pleasant and tells a good story.

My granddaughter Cherokee and I went to Johnny Rockets on Friday, August 30th, 2019 at 12:34 pm.  After being seated, I wanted to know if the waitstaff would dance like I have seen at other Johnny Rockets.  So since no one was dancing, we decided to look through the menu.

Betty, our waitress was very friendly, polite and efficient with a wonderful smile and showed how good she was at writing her name with ketchup on a paper plate. We order the original hamburger is topped with shredded lettuce, freshly sliced tomato, with extra chopped onion, relish, american cheese, mustard, mayonnaise and crinkle-cut pickles.  When our food was delivered to the table, it was right off the grill, hot.  Not like some other places where your food sits under the warmer and you have to send it back because it is either warm or cool.  I like my food hot.

I've been to Johnny Rocket's in New York and New Jersey.  I plan to hit one or two or three in each of the states that I visit just to see if they are consistent.  So far so good.

This location was clean, busy yet we were seated right away.  I will be back once I finish shopping.
